Spring 2021

Registration is CLOSED

The McLean Youth (MYA) Volleyball spring 2021 season is underway.

McLean Youth (MYA) Volleyball is committed to the well-being of its players, parents, coaches and referees. To minimize the risk of virus spread, all participants are asked to abide by the COVID-19 Protocol throughout the season.  The Protocol follows and sometimes exceed National, State and County directives.

The Fairfax County Department of Health held an insightful COVID-19 & Athletics Programs Information Session on March 29.  It covered the recent uptick in COVID-19 cases in certain youth sports (not volleyball) and the importance of the County's containment polices including team pauses and contact investigations. The MYA Volleyball COVID-19 Protocol has been updated to align with the latest Department of Health directions. We highly recommend that all participants watch the video and reviww the handout materials from the session.

During the Spring 2021 season, teams will both practice and play competitive matches.  Given some challenges faced with the shortage of indoor school gyms, all events are limited to just 60 minutes. With more gyms scheduled to go off-line in May, a "bye-week" approach may be utilized where some teams skip a practice every two or three weeks with an option to practice outdoors during teh bye-week.

Whenever possible, matches will be played outdoors on grass fields weather permitting. Spectators are not permitted at indoor practices or matches but can attend outdoor matches as long as social distancing norms are followed.

The latest team schedule can always be found on this website using menu options "Teams" > "Choose a Team" > "Schedule".

Due to risk concerns, this season will not include skills clinics, Froyo Challenge, picture days, playoffs and all-stars games.
